Summer Book Club: Detransition, Baby
Independence Library
Looking for a good read this summer? Join our book club and enjoy three books ripe for discussion. We meet the final Thursday of each month at the Independence Branch. This month, we are celebrating Pride and reading Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters.
Reese had what previous generations of trans women could only dream of; the only thing missing was a child. Then her girlfriend, Amy, detransitioned and became Ames, and everything fell apart. Ames thought detransitioning to live as a man would make life easier, but it cost him Reese and his only family. Then Ames's boss and lover, Katrina, reveals that she is pregnant with his baby—and is not sure whether she wants to keep it. Ames wonders: Could the three of them form some kind of unconventional family, and raise the baby together?
Free hard copies are available for up to 8 participants. All are welcome to join us for a discussion on June 29th at 4pm in the meeting room. Questions? Call 215-685-1633 or email rosenS@freelibrary.org.
