Join the Free Library of Philadelphia's Education, Philosophy, and Religion Department for a screening of Anne Fontaine's French-Polish-Belgian film, The Innocents. Based on true events during World War II, the film follows a young medic who is called to treat a convent of nuns who are struggling in the aftermath of sexual violence at the hands of soldier.
This event is free to the public. Please register for this event at the-innocents.eventbrite.com or through bit.ly/epr-eventbrite. The screening will take place in Room 108, on the 1st floor of the Parkway Central Library, accessible through the Wood Street entrance behind the building.
This film part of our Summer Film Series. Come along with us this summer as we alternate between two film programs: In Black Luminaries we are showing films about writers and scholars of color who were influenced by philosophy, psychology, and religion and had a significant impact on, while not always being regarded as primary contributors to, these fields. In Bad Habits we will show a triptych of international films that examine the lives and passions of nuns as they wrestle with their faith, femininity, and identities.
