Parkway Central Library
Join the curators for a tour of The Art and Influence of John Dowell, the latest exhibition from the Free Library's Special Collections.
John Dowell (born 1941) is a Philadelphia based, nationally recognized artist, master printer, and photographer. Dowell generously organized donations of his work and the work of other artists to the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Print and Picture Collection. The prints and photographs in The Art and Influence of John Dowell spotlight Dowell’s life as an artist and his 46-year teaching career.
Meet in the Dietrich Gallery on the third floor of Parkway Central Library in the Rare Book Department to learn more about Dowell's work as an artist and teacher. We'll also visit the second floor to see work donated by Dowell, including prints created at Tamarind Lithography Workshop in the 1960s.
The tour is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Visit freelibrary.org/johndowell to learn more about the exhibition and related events.
The Art and Influence of John Dowell is on view Monday, October 2, 2023 through March 1, 2024 on the Second and Third Floors of Parkway Central Library.
