Unraveling Health Misinformation Series: Oral Health and Dental Care
Lucien E. Blackwell West Philadelphia Regional Library
Oral health is essential to your general health and well-being. Our oral health can affect the way we live – it can change our ability to eat, talk, smile, and go about daily activities. In this session, we will discuss the basics of dental health and show you how important it is for your overall health. We will also discuss how oral health can be affected by certain conditions and diseases like diabetes or COVID-19. This presentation will be hosted by an oral hygienist and periodontist resident who will provide patrons with trustworthy information about oral health. At the end, take home some handouts and oral health giveaways like toothbrushes, floss, and mouthwash. Attendees will be entered into a raffle for a waterpik flosser.
This event is intended for adults interested in learning more about oral health and hygiene. Maximum 20 attendees.
Oral hygiene is an often-overlooked part of health for many reasons – it tends not to be included in health insurance plans, can be expensive out of pocket, and a variety of other reasons. Even more so, it can be affected by certain diseases like diabetes. This session will be focused on providing patrons with trustworthy information on dental health and oral hygiene and providing them with a space to ask questions from qualified presenters. Giveaways will be handed out to attendees to encourage them to use these recommended products following the event.
