Comix Club: Flipbooks with Sabrina Truong
Art Department at Parkway Central Library
This special meeting of Comix Club will feature a hands-on flipbook animation making workshop led by local animator, illustrator, and filmmaker Sabrina Truong. Seating and supplies will be limited so stop by at 10am if you wish to participate. Sabrina will show you how to make 2D animations with things from your home and learn and practice the basics of hand drawn animation with traditional pencil and paper. Watch your drawings and characters come to life in one of the earliest forms of animated media!
Anyone age 18+ is welcome to stop by to read or draw comics during Comix Club whether they are taking part in the workshop or not. We'll be providing some blank paneled pages and other drawing supplies. We are also gathering comics made during these meetings for a future Comix Club zine. If you are a Philadelphia-based artist with a comic of your own, or have any local comics you’d like to donate to this collection, feel free to bring them to our meet-ups!
The Philadelphia Comics Collection is also available for read in the library any time we are open! This collection contains work by local comics artists and publishers. Please be aware that the content of many of these comics is mature and graphic in nature, and so we ask that its readers be 18 and up.
Comix Club usually meets once a month in the Art Department, on Parkway Central Library's 2nd floor, but we've added a second meeting this month! Join us again on Thursday, April 25th, 5:30-7:30pm in the Art Department.
