Independence for Puerto Rico: The Best Solution to Colonialism
Social Science and History Department at Parkway Central Library
4th Floor Skyline Room
The Free Library of Philadelphia and Boricuas Unidos en la Diáspora presents Alberto Medina and Luis Ponce in conversation with Free Library’s Social Science and History Department head Alberto Pagan-Ramirez in a 2-day series talking about the current status of colonialism in Puerto Rico.
BUDPR leaders will argue why statehood for Puerto Rico is the wrong alternative and why Puerto Rican independence is not only the right or moral solution, but also how it will benefit Puerto Rico economically. BUDPR will talk about its Congressional work to bring awareness about independence and will offer recommendations of what Americans can do to end colonialism in Puerto Rico.
Spanish interpretation will be available both days.
