Community Archiving: Let's Make Histories!
Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library
What's your Germantown history? We’re kicking off a season of programming at the Joseph E. Coleman Regional Library dedicated to public history. Please join us for hands-on archiving activities and conversations about the making and sharing of history in our community. We’ll provide digital services to scan photos and documents and record oral histories, and materials to make scrapbooks and family storyboards.
Local historic sites and community organizations will be sharing objects from their collections, and we invite you to do the same. Please feel free to bring several objects (photo, document, small artifact) to work with. You may take home digital files on a flash drive (provided), and you may also choose to include your files in our evolving digital collection of Germantown stories. Bring out your photos, letters, and life souvenirs, and let’s make histories!
Community partners joining us include Cliveden, Wyck, Johnson House, Historic RittenhouseTown, Lest We Forget Museum of Slavery, Healing Verse Germantown, PA Photos & Documents, Crossroads Women's Center, and more!
In-Kind sponsors include Gaylord Archival Supplies, University Products, Weavers Way Coop and Salam Cafe.
