Four paintings by David K. Coleman Jr. are now on display in the Art Department's historic poster stands. Part of an ongoing series highlighting work by artists who make use of our space as a free artist studio and library resources for inspiration.
David K. Coleman Jr. is a Philadelphia-based artist, author, and mental health advocate. He transitioned from music to visual art, gaining a following on Instagram for sketches and expanding into digital art, pixel art, and animation. His work includes traditional artwork, illustrations, merchandise design, and coloring books celebrating women of color. In 2024 he painted a mural for Target, exhibited at multiple galleries, and published a children's book. David's book, Never Fit In, was recently added to the catalog here at the Free Library of Philadelphia and it will soon be available to borrow.
