Baseball: Immigration and Assimilation
Fox Chase Library
Learn about the themes of immigration and assimilation as they pertained to immigrants in the 20th century. This presentation by Jeff Thomas will discuss how baseball has historically been seen as America's game: even by those new to our country. Many immigrants believed that by understanding and enjoying baseball, they would be more readily accepted into the American culture and life. Examine the interplay between baseball and the assimilation of immigrants into American society.
Instructor Jeff Thomas, a Phillies season ticket holder for 40+ years, has played, coached, and taught baseball for many decades.
