Comics: The Extraordinary Power of Words and Pictures. An event with Ellen Forney
Univ. of the Arts, Dorrance Hamilton Hall, CBS Auditorium, 320 S. Broad St.
Comics are enjoying a new respect as a compelling literary medium. Join Ellen Forney, creator of the art in this year's One Book selection The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, as she enthuses about their quirky appeal in a presentation about both her solo projects and her work with the novel.
In addition to her work with Sherman Alexie, Forney is an Eisner Award-winning artist who has created several Eisner-nominated solo comic books, including Lust, I Love Led Zeppelin, and Monkey Food, and teaches comics studio courses and Graphic Novels Lit at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. She is currently working on her first full-length graphic novel for Gotham/Penguin Books.
