This 1924 image from a letter written by Benjamin Franklin to William Strahan shows one of Franklin's many letters in their forty-year correspondence. William Strahan was a Scottish-born printer and bookseller in London; he also served in Parliament. Their correspondence began in the 1740s as a casual business acquaintance, and grew into a warm personal friendship. There was a falling out around the time of the American Revolution, but the friendship was eventually renewed intact.
