Reproduction Services

The Free Library of Philadelphia provides high-resolution images from its Digital Collections for publication and other uses, within copyright and licensing restrictions. To request an image, please complete the Reproductions Form linked below, specifying the item number listed in the record. For images not included in our Digital Collections, please include as much information as possible, i.e. department or collection, image title, creator, webpage link, etc. If you need assistance locating this information, please contact the appropriate Library Department.

Reproduction processing of images is dependent on staff availability. We strive to provide items already in our Digital Collection in 5 business days. Processing time for images requiring digitization is approximately 4-6 weeks.

Digitization of items that are not currently in the Digital Collections may be subject to a digitization fee according to the schedule below.

Please note:

• Images provided by the Free Library of Philadelphia may still be under copyright and protected by the U.S. and/or international copyright laws; you are solely responsible for determining whether your use of any image provided by the Library requires the consent of any third party or the license of any additional rights. For more information, please see the Terms and Conditions section of the Reproductions Form.
• The Free Library of Philadelphia does not offer rush services.
• High-resolution images are considered to be images of 300 dpi or greater or files that are 80MB or greater.
• Refunds are not offered for reproduction services, even if the images are not used.
• The Free Library allows lower-resolution (1000 pixels) images (.jpegs) to be downloaded directly from the Digital Collections from the record page for fair-use projects.
• The Free Library reserves the right to decline to provide any of its images for any reason and at its discretion.

Free Library Service Fees

Reproduction and licensing fees help support the collections, services, and programs of the Free Library of Philadelphia. Commercial requests are directed to a third party that coordinates reproduction and collects fees determined by the proposed usage. Non-commercial requests are handled by the Free Library of Philadelphia's Reproductions Team. For high-volume, non-commercial reproduction requests, please contact us at reproductions@freelibrary.org to receive a quote.
