Print and Picture Collection
Image taken by Philadelphia Evening Bulletin photographer Charles T. Higgins. Notes on the negative's envelope read: "(neg. no. 149); December 1949"
This December 1949 image shows a distant view of the Philadelphia skyline, taken from the Belmont Mansion. Looking across the Schuylkill River, one can see the Girard Street Bridge, the west facade of the Philadelphia Art Museum, the dome of the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, and the Philadelphia skyline and its iconic City Hall tower.
