Image taken by Philadelphia Evening Bulletin photographer Charles T. Higgins.  Notes on the negative's envelope read:  "Dec 1953, aerial views, Gates Pavilion at University of Penna"

This 1953 image shows an aerial view of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP).  Behind it is the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).  In the upper left corner is the Philadelphia Civic Center, which opened in 1931, closed in 1996, and was demolished in 2005--today, the Perleman Center for Advanced Medicine is on that site.
