This 1953 image shows an aerial view featuring the built-up Center City area of Philadelphia, with the Delaware River seen faintly across the upper half, the iconic tower of City Hall in the center, and the Schuylkill River across the lower half. Below the river and parallel to it is the West Philadelphia Elevated (aka, the Philadelphia High Line), the railroad viaduct built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1903. The University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field is at the lower right corner.
