Image taken by Philadelphia Evening Bulletin photographer Charles T. Higgins.  Notes on the negative's envelope read:  "Aerial, 1975, Girard Point Bridge, dead ends on west side of river near airport circle"

This 1975 image shows an aerial view of the Girard Point Bridge (upper, right) and the yet-to-be-completed last section of the Delaware Expressway (the Pennsylvania segment of I-95).  The Girard Point Bridge is the last bridge that crosses the Schuylkil River, less than a mile before the river flows into the Delaware River.  Although the bridge itself was completed in 1973, the rest of the highway wasn't opened until 1985, marking the completion at the time of I-95 in Pennsylvania.
