Title: Ford assembly line
Production Year:
1953
Media Type: Photographic Prints
Source: Automobile Reference Collection
Notes:
History was made as the flywheel magneto, first manufactured part to
be built on a moving assembly line, passed by workmen at Ford Motor Company's
Highland Park, Mich., plant in the spring of 1913. Time required to assemble
magnetos was reduced from 20 to five minutes; the principle was applied to all
Model T assembly operations and mass production was born.
