JONES BEACH, N.Y., JULY 4 -- NOBODY WAS GOING HOME -- Bumper to bumper, cars and busses line the causeway to New York state's model beach on the south shore of Long Island. Road Blocks were used to shut off roads leading to the beach several times during day as parking areas became clogged. Not a single car appears on the two strips of the "home bound" half of the highway. 1948.
