Advertisement calendar for the year 1884 for the firm renamed Geo. S. Harris & Sons in 1876 that contains a large genre scene bordered to the left by pictorial details . The scene, set in a colorfully decorated room, shows a woman lighting the cigar of a man. The woman attired in a dress with a trim decorated in a mosaic flower pattern uses a slip of paper marked "1884" to light the cigar of the man who is attired in dress-tails. Border details include an oriental-style vase of roses atop cloth draped over the calendar, and the lithographer's tradecard. Also includes decorative trim in the upper edge. Harris, first listed as a printer in 1847, operated one of the largest Philadelphia lithographic studios in the later 19th-century. The firm specialized in cigar box labels and stock trade cards.
