Homeward Bound After Receiving Summons
Washington, D.C.--John L. Lewis enters his car upon leaving the United Mine Workers building in Washington, D.C., for his home in Alexandria, VA., after a very busy day. Two federal marshals served him with a summons at his office today requiring his appearance in the federal court Monday morning to answer a contempt citation resulting from the soft coal strike. An aid reported he accepted the summons "without comment." Photo by G. Bradford Kress, 1954
