The Golden Bull of Charles IV (1316-78), promulgated at the diet of Nuremberg on January 10, 1356, provided a set of rules for the election of German kings. Charles IV was crowned King of Bohemia in 1347 and Holy Roman Emperor in 1355.


Notes:

This manuscript also contains a letter written by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III (1415-1493), dated Frankfurt, Assumption Day, 1442, and a series of laws governing business transactions.
