October, 1960. The Aerocar, Flying Automobile.
The Aerocar, pictured above in flight, is a flying automobile designed and manufactured by Moulton B. Taylor of Longview, Washington. One will be on display near the receiving entrance on the ground floor during Medal Day, when Mr. Taylor will receive an Edward Longstreth Medal for his development of this unique vehicle. Its ground speed is 67 miles per hour and in flight it can cruise at better than a hundred miles per hour. Five minutes are all that's needed to convert the machine from car to plane or vice versa; no special tools are needed. It holds two people and 100 pounds of baggage.
