Notes: "This small building, next to Downing's Cheap Store, was older than its neighbors, as is evident in part from the lower construction. The portico was a later addition. A traveler might wonder about the limit of accommodations in so small a house, though in all likelihood such an establishment was more a tavern than a hostelry."--OPEP, p. 56.
Notes: Row of house-like buildings. On portico of one: "Hotel, Dan Donnelly" with three men standing beneath. Next building has signs on awning: "Downing's Cheap Store" and "Downing's new store." Streetcar tracks run on 4th.
