My Dear Mac
Kate and Fanny have Raised the Standard of Rebellion this morning, and placed me in what the Americans would call “a slantindicular fix” – swearing that I promised to bring them to see your picture to day; being at the moment inflamed with wine and “the Mazy”.
What’s to be done? May they come about 3 or so? After that, as I want to call at Brompton, let you and I go and ride in the Parks until Talfourd’s dinner is ready, and Elyian blandishments convert our present sweet seeming into bitter gall.

                Faithfully Always
