Notes:
Gilbert Waters, of New Bern, N.C., confounded the skeptics back in 1903 by showing them that his Buggymobile would percolate. Folks down there didn't think it could run. So as a constant reminder tha tit does, Waters continues to operate it nearly 36 years aster the car was built. The car is said to be the first ever manufactured in the South, and when Waters failed to sell stock for a Buggy mobile factory in the early days, because people were too skeptical, the man-who-might-have-been Ford discarded his dream.
