Bigger and Better: Buick's Estate Wagon for 1971 has grown and sports some unique features. It is now on the same wheelbase as the Electra--127 inches-- an increase of three inches, and cargo capacity is 102.5 cubic feet, 10 cubic feet more than last year's model.
The three-seat wagon has been changed to satisfy prevailing customer demand. The third seat is now forward-facing and easily accesible because the rear side door has been widened. Headroom over the third seat also has been improved by 1.5 inches. Front and rear track are 64 inches, one inch wider than the 1970 model.
The Estate Wagon for 1971 also features the most advanced tailgate design ever offered, employing a separate tailgate and separate glass. The tailgate disappears into the underbody while the power-operated tailgate glass retract completely into the roof, making access to the cargo area completely unobstructed. It is powered with Buick's V-8 455 cubic -inch engine.
