Chevette Features Saginaw Innovations- The 1976 Chevette from Chevrolet features two items new to General Motors cars, the rack & pinion steering system shown on the left, and a multi-function switch control lever, right. The compact rack & pinion steering system allows engineers to keep weight and space requirements at a minimum for the small car. The steering column mounted switch controls five functions within easy reach of the driver's left hand. These include turn signals, windshield washer, windshield wipers, headlamps dimmer, and headlamp-flas-to-pass.
