  Tuesday Fourth September 1860.
My Dear Arthur,
It unfortunately happens that I cannot contrive to have the pleasure of receiving you at Gad's Hill before next Monday, but then, or any time after then I shall be delighted to see you there.--I write this on Gad's Hill paper, but really at the office on coming to town.
