GAD'S HILL PLACE
HIGHAM BY ROCHESTER, KENT
Saturday Eighth September 1860.
My Dear Arthur
As Mr. Davis's tenancy has just now begun, I think it will be best for me to pay the gardener for the current quarter. If you will leave word at home how much I have to contribute (which I forget), Georgina will call on Wednesday, and will pay the amount.
I hope you will find the Children of Israel, good neighbours. Mrs. Davis appears to be a very kind and agreeable woman. And I have never had any money transaction with any one, more promptly, fairly, and considerately conducted than the purchase of Tavistock House has been.
With kindest regards to all in the old corner,
Ever Faithfully Yours
Charles Dickens
