My Dear Mrs. Watson
A word--to let you know that I received your letter here last night. I have this morning written to Lady Spencer, and sent it to the post office for her Address. If I find her, I will do everything for her that can be done. But the pressure on the room tonight is very great. It was a great disappointment to me not to have you again, to sit before my fire in that bleak withdrawing room. I doubt that you can ever hear Copperfield to greater advantage than you would have heard it last night. The audience understood the most delicate points, and it "went" quite delightfully.
Ever affectionately Yours
Charles Dickens
