Gad’s Hill Place,
Higham by Rochester, Kent.
Monday Night Sixteenth May 1864
My Dear Leech.
I cannot send you the letter to P. A. Bass to night, because I find I have no letter paper here, without my engraved address. But it shall follow speedily.
We have only one day left; the third of June. If that be too late for you with reference to your health-seeking trip, of course you will say so to your old friend, plainly.
You looked—and evidently were—at least 1,000 per cent better to day, than when I saw you last.
Ever Faithfully
Charles Dickens
