Monday, Nineteenth May 1862
My Dear Leech. I think Egg's suggestion a sound one. Therefore I have taken out the words "at a reasonable cost". As the address stands, I think it just hits the purpose and could not well be better--though I say it as shouldn't.
I shall come up to see how you get on, before you are quite floored.

CD refers to the address, advertising Leech's exhibition of oil sketches at the Egyptian Hall, Piccadilly. CD also refers to a draft, written on a sheet of Leech's writing-paper, that reads "-which have been reproduced (much enlarged) on canvas by an ingenious new process, and | Painted in OIl | By Mr. Leech | The exhibition will open in the course of the month of May. Admission One Shilling" The exhibition in fact opened on Mon 2 June" (Pilgrim vol. 10 pp. 85-86).
