OFFICE OF ALL THE YEAR ROUND
Wednesday Eleventh November 1868
My Dear Mr. Childs
Immediately after seeing Mrs. Childs yesterday, I wrote to my daughter and told her you were not coming on Sunday. For this reason, and as I cannot consequently be sure of her, will you kindly let it stand as we arranged at the Langham:- that is, that Mrs. Childs and my daughter shall arrange days and hours, when they meet on Saturday evening?
- And by the bye. Will you tell Mrs. Childs with my kindest regard that I asked my sister in law, at breakfast this morning, the following grave question: "How do you mean to dress yourself on Saturday Evening?" To which she replied: "Just in the evening dress I wear at any Theatre."
Faithfully Yours always
Charles Dickens
