Image shows a scene from the Battle of Mobile Bay, which took place on August 5th., 1864. The Union fleet commanded by Admiral David Farragut is seen passing through a minefield and running the guns of two Confederate forts to get into Mobile Bay. The Union victory had the effect of shutting down the last blockade-running port east of the Mississippi on the Gulf coast.
