'There were no rifles like this in the War between the States...' Major General O.R. Gellette, age 97 (right) tells his son, Lt. William C. Gellette. Major General Gellette was the last member of General Robert E. Lee's staff.

General Gellette came here to pin the gold bars of a second lieutenant on his son at the completion ceremonies of officer training schoolon Saturday, from Shreveport, Louisiana.

General Gellette fought in 13 major battles, served with Jeb Stuart and Stonewall Jackson, as well as Lee.
