Chrysler's first New Yorker, introduced in 1939 at the New York World's Fair, was built on  a 125-inch wheelbase and featured a 323.5-cubic-inch, L-head eight-cylinder engine. The 1981 New Yorker continues the tradition of luxury and quality and will be offered in a smaller version compared to its 1980 predecessor. The 1981 model will be built on a 112.7-inch wheel base and with a choice of 225-Slant Six or 318 V-8 engines.
