A TURBINE INLET TEMPERATURE GAUGE and a tachometer (upper photo) are the only uncommon instruments to be found among the driving controls of the new Chrysler Corporation Turbine Car which will be distributed to selected motorists beginning this fall. The turbine inlet temperature gauge measures the heat of the gas which drives the first-stage turbine wheel inside the engine. The tachometer indicates speed of the gas regenerator section of the engine in revolutions per minute. The top portion of the instrument panel is covered in heavy padded copper-toned leather while the lower portion is satin-finish stainless steel. Lower photo shows leather covered control area of the unique full length console.
