Seat backs unlatch automatically when doors are opened on 1972 two-door Chrysler New Yorker Brougham and Imperial models. An electric solenoid, wired in series with the dome lamp door switch, unlatches the front seat back so it can be folded forward to provide more convenient access to the rear seat. Full foam cushion materials is molded directly onto seat back frames on 1972 Plymouth Valiant full bench and split back bench seats. Since there are fewer spring elements, the backs have less cross-section depth and thereby provide additional knee room for rear seat passengers.
