Notes:
A heated inlet air system is standard with the 340-CID engine in 1972 Plymouth Duster, Barracuda, and Road Runner. The system permits use of leaner fuel-air mixtures, which serves to reduce emissions, while maintaining mid-summer driveability the year around. Heated inlet air maintains temperature of air entering carburetor at 100 degrees or higher.
A new water pump is used for all engine applications of the 400 and 440 CID V-8's, including 1972 Chrysler and Plymouth models equipped with air conditioning. An improved seal assures longer service life. The rotating ceramic element of the seal has a press-fitted stainless steel band around the periphery which pre-stresses the ceramic in compression and reduces cracking caused by sudden cooling.
