Item No: hbp001006
Title: Epistolae ad Brutum, ad Quintum fratrem, ad Atticum by Marcus Tullius Cicero
Additional Title: Epistolae as Brutum
Rare Book Department
This is the first printed use of Jenson's humanistic roman. In this beautiful example there is no rubrication or illumination. The type is evenly colored, aligned in straight rows. The o's and m's are open and light, the e's evolved to a more parallel cross bar. The dots on the i's are faint and off set to the side. Colons and periods still are formed in the diamond of the quill. Use of long s, ligatures, line breaks at new paragraphs.
