Binding: Blue paper, pamphlet-bound.

Title page is brightly and colorfully decorated in Fraktur paintings of flowers and vines, with Fraktur lettering.. There is a pen inscription underneath the Fraktur lettering in blue, dated 1845. It matches the hand throughout the rest of the book, thus the decision to date the book to that year.

Music throughout is single-line melodies, with shape notes. Titles of each song are written in cursive.The last piece is written in red. Staves throughout are pre-ruled and only ruled on the recto pages (the music is also only written on the rectos).

The penultimate leaf has written on its verso a list of names with numbers after them.  They could be ages. The final leaf in the book has written on its verso three names with death dates and exact ages.
