This is a 1940 interior view of the rebuilt Chestnut Hill Branch, December 1940. Opened in 1909, it is the eighth of the Andrew Carnegie-funded libraries in Philadelphia (having replaced the earlier branch building on the same site). Cleared of reading tables, this room is set up for a special book exhibit.
