1961 DODGE LANCER FULL-UNIBODY CONSTRUCTION
The design of the Lancer unibody provides greater structural strength and interior roominess than is possible with conventional design. Box members in the underbody absorb driving, braking and suspension loads. Certain structural components including front fenders, engine-support cross members and the short transmission-support member are bolted on to facilitate servicing and to reduce the cost of repairs to damage caused by collision.
