The Kiwanis Club and the Olney Community Council began working together in 1945, to create a Free Library in their neighborhood. The Greater Olney Branch opened in the former Olney Bank and Trust Company building on October 20, 1949.
This Tabor Road-side view of the building (taken just prior to the branch's opening) features a WW I memorial, dedicated on July 4, 1919, to honor fallen local soldiers and sailors. The pediment-style memorial was retained when the bank was converted to a library branch.
Located at 5th Street and Tabor Road, the branch serves the Olney community.
