Title: Essex Terraplane, six-cylinder engine: 1932
Media Type:
Photographic Prints
Source: Automobile Reference Collection
Notes: Essex Motors, Detroit Mich. The compact, vibrationless, six-cylinder Essex Terraplane engine with high-compression, pneu-mounted power. A perfectly balanced power plant with extraordinarily high ratio of power output to displacement, and lacking the roughness which characterizes so many "forced" engines. Compensated both above and below the pistons to insure the last word in operating smoothness. Its specially designed combustion chamber delivers high-compression performance without the use of premium fuel. Its reciprocating parts are precision-machined in the best Hudson-Essex tradition for lightness, close limits, and wearing stamina. 1932
