Notes: Terraplane, Detroit, Mich. Formerly Essex. Terraplane stock cars break 46 A.A.A. records. Since February of this year Essex Terraplane stock cars have broken 46 official speed, acceleration and hill-climb records all under the supervision of the American Automobile Association Contest Board. These Terraplanes have captured every hill-climb record in the States of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, New Jersey and Virginia. The program is sponsored by the Hudson Motor Car Company to demonstrate the performance and stamina of these cars.
