Suffrages are typically accompanied by portraits of the saints addressed in the prayers. This image portrays the deaths of St. Achatius and his companions, who were martyred on Mount Ararat by being impaled on tree branches.
While most of the manuscript is in Latin, the rubric that begins this section of the book is in Dutch.
