The Philadelphia Musical Academy, founded in 1870, was Pennsylvania's oldest music school and one of the oldest in America. Following a merger with the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music (1962) and the acquisition of Philadelphia Dance Academy (1976), it changed its name to the Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts.
