Advertisement for Dr. Joseph H. Schenk's patent medicines containing a view of Schenk's building at Sixth & Arch Street. Completed 1862, designed by architect Stephen Decatur Button, the building's ornate cast iron and marble facade earned it the sobriquet "Palace of Marble." In 1909 it was partially demolished. The remainig first floor stayed around another fifty years until it was torn down to make way for the Independence National Historic Park.
Dr. Schenk's medicines listed: Pulmonic Syrup, a positive cure for Consumption; Seaweed Tonic, for Dyspepsia and Debility; Mandrake Pills, for Bilious Complaints.
