Devonshire Terrace Monday Fourth March 1844
My Dear Fred.
I forgot yesterday to give you the enclosed letter, addressed to yourself. Will you see the writer of the other one (who is close in your neighbourhood) and explain that I have been out of town—that I have no means whatever of giving the gentlemen employment—receive scores of similar applications every day-- &c &c.
If it seem a real case, I will give my mite; but I have no knowledge whatsoever, so far as I know, of this Mr.Walker; and you cannot watch him too sharply.
Let me know the result.
Affectionately Always
